Subterranean - Sketchbook Work

I haven't posted in a long time, been very busy with 2nd year projects so my next few posts will be a huge insight in my previous projects.

Subterranean
In this project we were given a list of themes to choose from and my chosen theme was subterranean, our final outcome was two-three garment fronts. I decided to look at designers such as Basso and Brooke, and look closely at rock layers and natural substances. Here are some photographs of my sketchbook work:

Basso and Brooke - Fall 12/13

I to a great liking to the naturally formed stalactites in caves.

Small sketches, inspired from Basso and Brooke collection.

Various drawing techniques and medias. Drawing from rock layers & stalactites.

Mark making using black fine liner, pencil and a black sharpy pen. Drawn from a photograph I took of an interesting rock I found.

I also decided to look at another natural form, icebergs  I didn't find them interesting so decided to look at them whilst melting. This gave a more interesting feel, here are some drawings.

After I was happy with the amount of drawing I started some development. I started to join various different motifs to produce a completely new one and this was the outcome.
