Wearable Art

Photographs of my final outcome; wearable art in a Gothic style. To produce this outcome I joint various different materials together to form a neck piece. I took my inspiration from designer Rowan Mersh, who uses a lot of fabric manipulation in his work. Here are some examples;

Here are some photographs of my final outcome;

I started to add tassels of different types of material such as lace and velvet, inspired from Mersh's work.

Deconstruction/Reconstruction Workshop.

These are some photographs I took of the garments I deconstructed by picking at the stitches using a stitch picker, I unpicked the lace detail from the top and unpicked the seams on the leggings so I was left with different types and sizes of lace to work with. I used these particular garments and chose to work with lace because I felt that it worked well with my current theme; Gothic.

So after I deconstructed the garments I started to reconstruct them into different fabric manipulation samples using the lace. I added beads and buttons to some of the samples. Overall I am extremely happy with my outcome of this workshop and feel that the samples work well with my Gothic theme. :)
